Behavioral Health

Bachelor of Behavioral Health Mission:

The goal of the Bachelor of Behavioral Health program is to provide students the opportunity to expand knowledge and skills necessary to provide behavioral support services within their own communities.  This knowledge is acquired within a liberal arts experience which emphasizes honesty, integrity, civility, and a strong sense of personal responsibility.  Students will use evidence-based practices to diagnose, treat, and support clients and families in crisis. Students will also develop the necessary skills to effectively communicate with clients, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Program graduates will be prepared to assist and support community clients and their families in a professional and caring manner as part of an interdisciplinary team. 

This program does not lead to certification or licensure.

 

Bachelor of Behavioral Health Outcomes:

The Bachelor of  Behavioral Health graduate will be able to:

  • Demonstrate leadership skills evidenced by collaboration as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Develop research questions, critically analyze research data, and apply research evidence to practice.
  • Demonstrate appropriate use of technology to analyze, manage, and communicate data with clients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Incorporate the principles of therapeutic communication and client education into practice.
  • Identify system facilitators and barriers to improving the health of individuals, families, and communities, and participate in the improvement of local, state, and federal behavior health programs.
  • Provide care in an ethical manner demonstrated by:
    • acceptance of all client cultures and beliefs;
    • providing effective, efficient, equitable, and accessible care for all clients; and
    • advocating for clients and their families.

Grades:

Student's must earn a C or better in all BEH prefix courses.
